Edmund C. Coates

Edmund C. Coates was born in England and settled in Brooklyn, New York. He was known for his landscape and historical paintings, which were usually of Italian or New York State scenes, although he also painted in Canada. His work was exhibited at the National Academy of Design in New York, and is part of the permanent collection of the Shelburne Museum in Vermont.
