Most likely painted in England, The Lily Pond depicts a solitary figure in a rowboat floating in a pond filled with a profusion of lily pads.  The landscape in the background is rendered in a brushy, Barbizon style, while the foreground elements of flowers and reeds are meticulously detailed.
