Among the large number of known still lifes by Prentice, flower pieces are rare, making Pansies and Nasturtiums an exceptional example from this prolific artist.  In this painting Prentice depicts a variety of summer wildflowers—growing upwards, reaching above grasses and weeds—just as they are found in nature.
